EXPRESS ENTRY (COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM)

WHAT IS EXPRESS ENTRY ?

Express Entry was launched in 2015 by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to manage and expedite economic immigration programs Such as Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skill Trades, Canadian Experience Class and Portion of Provincial Nominee Plan, (Now each province has its own Draw i.e. CRS Cut off). This new Canada Express Entry program has made many improvements and replace the old” First Come First Serve System” have created major Changes to Canadian Immigration such as:

  • Shorter processing time (between 6 months to 1 year approx.)
  • High ranking applicants got rapid invitation.
  • Focus on quality of applications.
  • Electronic application replaced the old paper base application.

Express Entry Draws take place at regular intervals to invite candidates to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held 27 ITA rounds and issued 89,800 invitations in 2018. In 2018, more than half of the total invitations issued were for the Federal Skilled Workers Program (53%), and about one third under the Canadian Experience Class (34%).

HOW IT WORKS ?

Under Express Entry System individuals express their interest in immigrating to Canada, which is then electronically screened to determine if the individual is eligible under the following immigration program such as:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program
  3. Canadian Experience Class
  4. Provincial Nominee Class

The profiles of candidates who do not receive an ITA, or decline an ITA, remain in the pool for up to 12 months.
